Gary C. Evans presently serves as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Magnum Hunter Resources Corporation (NYSE: MHR), a Houston based oil and gas exploration and production company; he has held that position since May 2009. Mr. Evans previously founded and served as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Magnum Hunter Resources Inc. (MHRI), a NYSE listed company, for twenty years before selling MHRI to Cimarex Energy for approximately $2.2 billion in June 2005. In 2005, Mr. Evans formed Wind Hunter Energy, LLC, a renewable energy company which was subsequently acquired in December 2006 by GreenHunter Energy, Inc.; a (NYSE Amex “GRH”) listed renewable energy company focusing on biodiesel, wind and biomass power. Mr. Evans has served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of GreenHunter Energy, Inc. since December 2006. Mr. Evans serves as an Individual Trustee of TEL Offshore Trust, a NASDAQ listed oil and gas trust, and is the Lead Director of Novavax Inc., a NASDAQ listed clinical-stage vaccine biotechnology company. Mr. Evans was recognized by Ernst and Young as the Southwest Area 2004 Entrepreneur of the Year for the Energy Sector and was subsequently inducted into the World Hall of Fame for Ernst & Young Entrepreneurs. Mr. Evans also serves on the Board of the Maguire Energy Institute at Southern Methodist University.
J. Raleigh Bailes has been a practicing Certified Public Accountant for over thirty years. Prior to forming his own firm, he was a partner with national and local accounting firms. Earlier in his career, he served as an Internal Revenue Service agent and instructor. He is a graduate of the University of Houston, receiving his BBA in Accounting in 1970. Upon successfully completing the 1994 U.S. Tax Court examination, he was admitted to practice before that Court on April 17, 1995. Mr. Bailes has given expert testimony on taxation in bankruptcy, corporate reorganizations, individual taxation, as well as determination of lost profits and damages sustained. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants (TSCPA), the Houston Chapter of the TSCPA and its Litigation Services Committee.
Brad Bynum is currently Chief Financial Officer of Hall-Houston Exploration Partners, L.L.C. Prior to Hall-Houston Exploration he was a Director in Merrill Lynch’s Global Energy and Power Investment Banking Group in Houston, Texas. While at Merrill Lynch, from 1997 to 2005, Mr. Bynum worked with a wide range of energy clients primarily focusing on the exploration and production sector of the oil and gas industry. Mr. Bynum received a BBA from Texas A&M University and an MBA from Rice University.
Victor Carrillo has over 20 years of educational and professional experience related to the crude oil and natural gas exploration and production segment of the energy industry. A native of Abilene, Texas, he earned a B.S. degree in geology from Hardin-Simmons University in 1986 and a M.S. degree in geology from Baylor University in 1988. Mr. Carrillo joined Amoco Production Company in Houston as a petroleum geophysicist in 1988 where he gained experience in the full spectrum of oil and gas exploration and production activities. Attending the University of Houston Law Center at night while working for Amoco, Mr. Carrillo earned his Juris Doctorate degree in 1994 with emphasis in both environmental and oil and gas law. He then joined the Texas General Land Office as an energy attorney from 1994 through 1996 where he advised the Texas Land Commissioner on a variety of oil and gas, environmental and general government relationship issues. In 1996, Mr. Carrillo returned to Abilene, Texas where he served as an Assistant City Attorney and taught political science and legal studies classes at Hardin-Simmons University. He then ran for and won election to the Abilene City Council, where he served until he was appointed as Taylor County Judge, prior to running for and winning a four year term as Taylor County Judge. In February 2003, Texas Governor Rick Perry appointed Mr. Carrillo to fill an unexpired term on the Texas Railroad Commission. During the general election of November 2004, Mr. Carrillo received almost four million votes and won statewide election to the Texas Railroad Commission. During his time of service as a Texas Railroad Commissioner, Mr. Carrillo also served as Chairman of the Governor’s Texas Energy Planning Council. Mr. Carrillo has served on the Texas Railroad Commission for almost eight years. He will be leaving the Texas Railroad Commission effective January 3, 2011 to join Zion Oil & Gas as Executive Vice President, an oil and gas company active in onshore Israel. During his career, Mr. Carrillo has also served as the Chairman of the Outer Continental Shelf Advisory Committee to the U.S. Secretary of the Interior, Vice Chairman of the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission, member of the Committee on Gas for the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners, and as a member of the Board of Advisors to the Texas Journal of Oil, Gas & Energy Law at the University of Texas School of Law. The Abilene Young Lawyers’ Association honored Mr. Carrillo as the Young Lawyer of the Year in 2001. In 2003, he was awarded the first Young Alumni of the Year award from Hardin-Simmons University. Mr. Carrillo was awarded an honorary Doctorate degree from Hardin-Simmons University in May 2006. The son of a Mexican immigrant, Mr. Carrillo was the first in his family to have attended college. Hispanic Business Magazine has named Mr. Carrillo to its list of the 100 Most Influential Hispanics in the United States. Mr. Carrillo has been married for 26 years and has three daughters.
Stephen C. Hurley has 37 years experience in the oil and gas industry. Mr. Hurley is a member of the Board of Directors of Magnum Hunter Resources Corporation, serving on both the audit and compensation committees. He is a former member of the Board of Directors of Brigham Exploration, serving from 2002 to 2011 when the company was sold to Statoil. He served on the audit and compensation committees of Brigham also. Mr. Hurley is a former President and board member of Hunt Oil Company, having been associated with Hunt from August 2001 to August 2011. Prior to joining Hunt, Mr. Hurley served as Chief Operating Officer, Executive Vice President and a member of the Board of Directors for Chieftain International, Inc. from August 1995 to August 2001. Prior to joining Chieftain, Mr. Hurley was Vice President of Exploration and Production for Murphy Exploration and Production Company. Earlier, he was affiliated with Ocean Drilling and Exploration Company and Exxon Company USA. Mr. Hurley holds both Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from the University of Arkansas and an advanced degree in business studies from Harvard University.
Joe L. McClaugherty is a Senior Partner of McClaugherty & Silver, P.C., a full service firm engaged in the practice of civil law located in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He has practiced law for thirty years and has a Martindale–Hubbell rating of A.V. Prior to founding McClaugherty & Silver in 1992; he was the Managing Partner of the Santa Fe office of Kemp, Smith, Duncan & Hammond. Mr. McClaugherty has served on numerous boards of both international and domestic companies. He received a BBA with Honors from the University of Texas in 1973 and a JD with Honors from the University of Texas School of Law in 1976. He is admitted to the Bars of the State of New Mexico, State of Texas, State of Colorado, United States Federal District Court for the State of New Mexico, United States Federal District Court for the State of Colorado, United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit and the United States Supreme Court.
Ron Ormand serves as Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, and Board Member. Mr. Ormand is a member of the Board of Directors of Green Hunter Energy Inc, and previous member of the Board of Directors of Tremisis Energy Acquisition Corporation II, both NYSE Amex listed companies. Mr. Ormand previously served as President and CFO of Tremisis. Mr. Ormand has over 25 years of energy investment banking experience, previously serving as Managing Director and Head of the Oil and Gas Investment Banking Group for the Americas at West LB, a German-based international bank, and with CIBC as Managing Director, Head of CIBC World U.S. Oil and Gas Investment Banking Group and member of U.S. Investment Banking Management Committee. Mr. Ormand received a B.A. and an M.B.A. from UCLA and attended Cambridge University where he studied Economics.
Steven Pfeifer is the Managing Member of P.O.&G. Resources – Texas, LLC. Prior to founding P.O. &G. in 2004, Mr. Pfeifer spent eleven years in New York as a Wall Street oil and gas stock analyst. His previous employers include Deutsche Bank, Paine Webber, and Prudential Securities. From 1999 to 2004, Mr. Pfeifer was the head of Merrill Lynch’s Global Energy Research Team. From 1984 to 1993, he worked for ARCO Oil and Gas as a reservoir engineer in Tulsa, Denver, and Midland; and for Amoco Production Company in that company’s financial analysis and strategic planning groups in Houston and Chicago. Mr. Pfeifer received a BS degree in petroleum engineering from the University of Texas and an MBA from Wharton.
Jeff Swanson is the Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, and President of GrailQuest Corporation; a software and service provider to the exploration and exploitation sectors of the oil and gas industry. Mr. Swanson has more than 30 years of experience primarily in upstream exploration and production. Mr. Swanson is a recognized leader in the development and application of technology to exploration and exploitation of projects. Mr. Swanson is a graduate of Southern Methodist University Cox School of Business.
